Installing the upper oil sump section
NOTE:

The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g., emery cloths) for cleaning surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks and/or engine damage.
- Do not use any metal-cutting tools.
- Clean all threads for attachment with a suitable screw tap M8 (1)
.
- Remove coarse seal residues on the sealing surfaces (1)
on the upper oil sump section and on the crankcase with the special tool 0 495 102 (11 4 470)
.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The sealing surfaces must be free of oil, grease and cleaning agents. - Remove fine seal residues on the sealing surfaces on the upper oil sump section and on the crankcase with the special tool 0 495 102 (11 4 470) .
- Replace seal (1)
of upper oil sump section.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The special tool 11 8 780 is only required when the transmission is removed. - Position special tool 0 496 120 (11 8 780) with transmission bolts (1) in such a way that the oil pan aligns exactly with the engine block.

Loctite 5970 liquid sealing compound Processing time <10 minutes at room temperature 50 ml, Cartridge 83190404517 - Apply a drop of sealing compound on all separation points on the crankcase.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Replace microencapsulated screws.
The screw lining must be completed within 15 minutes, as the hardening begins after this time period. Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened. - Replace screws of upper oil sump section. Observe screw lengths.

- Position oil pan with special tools 2 219 012
and 0 495 498 (23 4 050)
and a support person on crankcase.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Replace microencapsulated screws.
The screw lining must be completed within 15 minutes, as the hardening begins after this time period. Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened. - Position upper oil sump section with the seal on the crankcase.
