41 11 335 Replace Side Member Before L Wheel Arch
Compliance with the following points is mandatory before beginning work:
- DISCONNECT HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM FROM POWER .
- Observe SAFETY INFORMATION for handling electric vehicles.
Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .
Place vehicle on straightening bench.
The following body components are required:
- (1) Front side member
- (2) Repair element of front side member (quantity: 2)
Following CONSUMABLES are required:

Removing the side member
Mark severance cut in accordance with Dimension a and cut.
Dimension (A) = 45 mm.
Preparation:
Prepare new part as per SECTIONAL REPAIR OF ALUMINIUM EXTRUDED PROFILES .
Adjust new part to fit with set of attachments or universal mount.
View from outside/above:
Drill holes for blind rivets (1) with Ø6.8 mm as per figure.
View from inside/below:
Drill holes for blind rivets (1) with Ø6.8 mm as per figure.
Installing the side member:
Clean all bonding surfaces on vehicle, new part and repair element with cleaning agent R1.
Install new part as per SECTIONAL REPAIR OF ALUMINIUM EXTRUDED PROFILES .
Drill holes for blind rivets with Ø6.8 mm in repair element that has been pried open.
Mount blind rivets.
After the adhesive has hardened, sand side member in repair area with NON-WOVEN ABRASIVE S1 .
Seal blind rivet heads and attachment points of grounding cable with sealant D1.
After the sealant has hardened, spray paint it in the repair area in a black matte color.
