Service function for saving the desired configuration

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The desired configuration of the MOST ring (= installed control units in their order in the MOST ring) is stored in the headunit and in the central gateway module (ZGM). If a control unit is retrofitted or the ZGM or headunit is replaced, the desired configuration must be saved again. The desired configuration is carried out with the programming (ISTA/P). In the event of a ring fault, it is then possible to use the desired configuration to determine the control units between which the open circuit exists.

The specified configuration of the MOST ring (= control units fitted and the order they are arranged in the MOST ring) is stored in the head unit. If a control unit is retrofitted or the head unit is replaced, the specified configuration must be saved again. The desired configuration is carried out with the programming (ISTA/P). Then, if a break in the ring occurs, the specified configuration can be used to determine between which control units the break is located.
