Backrest locking switch

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The backrest lock switch monitors the proper locking of the front seat backrest on the driver's side and front passenger side.

Seats with 3-point automatic-reel belt integrated in the front seat backrest are fitted on the convertible. If the backrest is not locked correctly, there is the danger that in the event of a crash occupants could move forward with the backrests and the seat belt is thereby without restraining effect.
