Bumper aerial

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Comfort Access function is integrated in the CAS control unit, FEM control unit or the BDC control unit. With Comfort Access (SA322), the vehicle can be opened and started without actively using an ignition key. With Comfort Access, an ID transmitter is required instead of the usual remote control.

The bumper aerial is connected on the Car Access System (CAS), front electronic module (FEM) or on the Body Domain Controller (BDC).

If a contact-free tailgate opening operation is requested, the vehicle is woken up. A search for an ID transmitter is now initiated via the bumper aerials. If a valid ID transmitter is located in the rear area, the tailgate opens.
