52 26 414 Replacing backrest cover for rear seat, center

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Remove center rear seat backrest from support of left-hand backrest in direction of arrow.

Installation note: 

Plastic bush (1) may slide when removing the center backrest.

Make sure plastic bush (1) is fitted correctly in the backrest frame.

The plastic bush (1) must be retained in the backrest frame with a lug.

Plastic bush (1) is clipped in from inside outwards.

Installation note: 

Plastic bush (1) may slide when removing the center backrest.

Make sure plastic bush (1) is fitted correctly in the backrest frame.

The plastic bush (1) must be retained in the backrest frame with a lug.

Plastic bush (1) is clipped from outside inward.

Unclip trim cover for lock with a plastic wedge.

Move trim cover for lock a little towards the middle.

Detach trim cover for lock by pulling towards rear.

Installation note: 

Retaining lugs on the trim cover for the lock must not be damaged.

Replace defective trim cover for lock.

Carefully unclip strip (1) for channel cover along the marking on left and right.

Installation note: 

Latch mechanisms must not be damaged

Replace defective strip for channel cover.

Use plastic wedge to unclip front center armrest trim cover (1).

None of the retaining lugs on trim must be damaged.

Replace defective center armrest cover.

Installation note: 

In marked area (1), fit center armrest trim cover (1) in welt of lower seat cover.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

Insert plastic wedge from outside between trim (1) and lock.

Carefully lever outer side of trim (1) with plastic wedge upwards out of catch.

Lever inner side of trim (1) with plastic wedge out of catch.

Remove trim upwards.

Press backrest cover with padding next to guide downwards to expose retaining lugs.

Unlock retaining lugs on left and right with screwdriver and lift up to remove guide.

Guide sleeves with  locks have two retaining lugs.

Guide sleeves with no  latches have one retaining lug.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage backrest cover.

Installation note: 

Replace guide sleeves and install as follows:

  1. Short guide sleeves center right
  2. Short guide sleeve with center left lock

Lever out welt in marked area.

Detach trim wire from claw studs.

Detach cover from plastic tabs.

Pull cover forward to remove from operating unit.

Detach cover from plastic tabs.

Lever out welt in marked area.

Remove lower seat cover.
