16 19 020 Removing and installing/replacing active tank

IMPORTANT: Ensure adequate ventilation in the workbay!
Avoid skin contact (wear gloves)!
Avoid eye contact (safety goggles)!
Urea/water mixture can escape when components carrying urea/water mixture are released. Have a collecting vessel ready.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

IMPORTANT: Maintain conditions of absolute cleanliness.
Connections and covers of lines carrying urea/water mixture must be cleaned thoroughly with water after each removal or before each installation!
Thoroughly clean the working area with water after repair work.
Use fluff-free cloths for cleaning.
Close connections and lines!
Thoroughly clean special tool with water after each use.

Necessary preliminary work:

Draw off the SCR ACTIVE TANK .
Remove rear right WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
Remove REAR RIGHT UNDERBODY PANELLING .
Remove rear right heat shield.

Removal:

Release the hose clamp (1) and pull off the filling hose from the active tank.

Unlock and disconnect snap fastener (2).

Unlock snap fastener (1) and pull off feed line.

Disconnect plug connections (2).

IMPORTANT: Support fuel tank (1) with workshop jack across a large area!

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove active tank (1) downwards.

Installation:

IMPORTANT: Support active tank (1) with workshop jack across a large area!

Install the active tank (1).

Fit screws and nuts (2) and tighten.

Tightening torque: 16 19 1AZ .

Position the feed line and lock the snap fastener (1).

Connect plug connections (2).

NOTE: Check correct engagement of snap fastener (1) by attempting to pull.

Mount the filling hose on the active tank.

Fit and lock hose clamp (1).

NOTE: Replace hose clamp (1).

Parts: Hose clamp

Position snap fastener (2) and lock.

Required follow-up work:

Fill the SCR RESERVOIR .
Mounting the rear right WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
Install the rear right underbody panelling.
Mount rear right heat shield.
