Removing The A-Pillar Outside In The Area Of The Windshield
- Release the screws (1) and remove the deformation element (2).
- Release the cable harness (1) at the attachment points.

Kinking or bending the airbag may damage the airbag and result in a malfunction of the airbag.

Kinking or bending the airbag may damage the airbag and result in a malfunction of the airbag.
- Handle airbag carefully and move it minimally by hand.
- Do not kink or bend the airbag.
- Release the screw (2) for the airbag (3).
- Unlock and detach the clamp (4) with special tool 2 450 405.
- Use the protective sleeve (1) to protect the airbag.
- Before use, check the protective sleeve for damage.
- Do not use damaged protective sleeves.
- Use the hook and loop fastener (2) and loop (3) to affix the airbag or the protective sleeve.
- Push the protective sleeve (1) onto the airbag up to just below the roofliner so that the airbag is covered.
- Affix the protective sleeve with the hook and loop fastener (2).
- Secure protective sleeve and airbag against kinking.
- Cover the opening (1) between the body and roofliner to protect against weld beads and flying sparks.
- Mark and carry out the separating cuts according to the specified dimensions. Thereby disconnect only the outer panel.
Dimension a = 150 mm from the corner of the roof outer skin.
Dimension b = 380 mm below the separating cut a.
- Release welded connections in areas (1).
- Detach the section of the A-pillar from the cavity sealing (2) and remove.
