Removing and installing (replacing) M sports steering wheel
NOTE:
Chassis/wheel alignment is not necessary after the steering wheel has been removed and installed or replaced.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove AIRBAG UNIT .
Removal:
CAUTION:
While releasing the screw (2), counter support the steering wheel with the help of a second person in order to reduce the torque on the steering column!
Move wheels/sport steering wheel into straight-ahead position.
Disconnect and detach plug connections (1).
Release screw (2) and remove sport steering wheel.
Installation note:
Only on vehicles with microencapsulated screw: Clean thread in the steering column and replace screw!
Tightening torque 32 33 1AZ .
Make sure connecting line(s) is/are correctly laid.
NOTE:
There are clock springs installed with and without a mechanical anti-twist lock.
Clock spring without mechanical anti-twist lock:
(recognizable at the inspection glass for the mark of the neutral position)
Clock spring without mechanical anti-twist lock:
(recognizable at the inspection glass for the mark of the neutral position)
- Do not twist the clock spring
- Check zero position of clock spring on steering column switch cluster.
- Zero position is correct only when yellow mark (1) is clearly visible!
Replacement:
- Modify SHIFT PADDLES .
- Remount both MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES .
- Modify DESIGN COVER for sports steering wheel at front and rear
- REMOUNTING THE CONTROL UNIT FOR STEERING WHEEL MODULE .
- If necessary, modify the LANE DEPARTURE WARNING engine electrical system
Installation:
Before fitting sport steering wheel on steering column, ensure correct cable routing.
Align sport steering wheel by way of marking (1) to steering column marking (2) and attach.
Connect plug connections (1).
Tighten screw (2).
Tightening torque 32 33 1AZ .
