Replacing steering shaft collar

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR PEDAL MECHANISM .
• US vehicles only: Remove the AIRBAG MODULE for driver's knee protection.
• Unclip the air duct in the footwell.
• Remove the bottom STEERING SHAFT  in engine compartment.

Removal: 

Pull locking pin (1) off of steering shaft collar.

Press in latch mechanisms (2) from engine compartment and press steering shaft collar in passenger compartment.

• Remove the STEERING COLUMN  with the steering shaft collar.

Installation: 

Mount STEERING COLUMN  with steering shaft collar from passenger compartment.

Insert steering shaft collar into the recesses in the bulkhead and press in until the latch mechanisms engage audibly and palpably.

Screw steering column on body.

Check latch mechanisms from engine compartment for tight fit and mount locking pin.
