51 13 316 Removing and installing/replacing trim strip on drip molding on left or right (Touring)

NOTE: Two persons are needed to remove and install the trim strip.
NOTE: Trim strip (1) is secured with 13 clips (2).
To remove trim strip at rear of drip molding, it is only necessary to detach strip (1) at rear four clips (2).

NOTE: Make sure body is not damaged in area of A- and C-pillars.
In first step, clip trim strip (1) out of centering (2) of rear trim strip (3).

Carefully clip out trim strip (1) with special tool 00 9 318 (universal wedge).

Installation: 

  1. To prevent leaks and noises:
  2. Check all clips (2) for visible damage.
  3. Loose or damaged clips (2), as shown in illustration, must be replaced as follows:

Installation: 

CAUTION:
  • Only carry trim strip by its middle (risk of damage)
  • Carry out installation with two persons
  • Prepositioning of trim strip
  • Ensure drip molding runs parallel to side frame (risk of breakage).
