51 49 000 Removing and installing / replacing trim panel for trunk lid (touring)

Remove trunk light (on rear lid), refer to 63 31 080 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT .

Open tailgate.

Detach trim (1) from retainers (2) and remove.

Installation: 

  1. Attach retainers (1) to panel.

Release screws (1).

Open trunk lid.

Lift out detents (1).

Feed panel (2) out of mounts (3) and remove.

Installation: 

  1. Guides (1) and catches (2) of panel (3) must not be damaged.

Unclip plate (1).

Release screws (1).

Unclip clips (2) and remove panel (3).

Installation: 

  1. If necessary, replace faulty retainers (1), clips (2) or metal nuts (3) of panel (4).

Replacement only:

Remove insulating mat (1) from old panel (2) and insert in new panel.
