51 71 412 Removing and installing rear spoiler (Touring)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 16 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW 330Ci, 2005 BMW 330xi, 2005 BMW 330i, 2005 BMW 330Ci, and 2004 BMW 330xi. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
For removal purposes, the trim panel wedge (special tool 00 9 317) must be present twice.
Without a trim panel wedge, the sprayed bridges tear at the trim. Damaged trims must be replaced.
Overview "Set of plastic wedges" (special tool 00 9 310):
Open tailgate.
With two special tools 00 9 317 in each case, clip pins (1) of trim (2) out of rear window frame.
Installation:
- Make sure all clips (1) are inserted into sleeves (2).
Installation:
- Pins (1) on trim (2) must not be damaged.
NOTE:
Hold rear spoiler while releasing screws (1); otherwise cables will be damaged.
Release screws (1).
Installation:
- Rubber seals (2) must be fitted.
- Tightening Torque. Refer to BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Detach sheeting (1) and disconnect plug connection (2).
Disconnect plug connection (3) on auxiliary brake light.
Disconnect hose (4) for washer system and remove rear spoiler (5).
Place rear spoiler (5) on a clean surface.
Installation:
- Always replace sheeting (1) - leaks.
Detach sheeting (1) completely.
Installation:
- Replace sheeting (1).
- Contact face of sheeting (1) must be clean.
- The sheeting (1) must rest in position without any folds so that no water can penetrate!
Installation:
- Connect plug (2) to amplifier (3).
- Sheeting (1) must not be damaged, replace if necessary.
Installation:
- Plug connection (1) of auxiliary brake light must be correctly seated.
- Hose connection (2) of washer jet must be correctly seated.
- Check function.
Installation:
- Threads (1) on rear spoiler (2) must not be damaged.
- If the gap dimensions are not achieved, you must adjust the rear window.
