Activating Air Bag System (CR-V, Insight, Odyssey & S2000)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 173 other vehicles, including the 2003 Volvo XC90, 2003 Volvo XC70, 2003 Volvo V70, 2003 Volvo V40, and 2003 Volvo S80. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is OFF and both battery cables are disconnected. WAIT at least 3 minutes. Connect driver's air bag connector. Install access panel.
  2. Connect passenger's air bag connector. Install glove box or access panel. Connect both front seat belt pretensioner 2-pin connectors to SRS main harness. Install trim panels. On CR-V and Odyssey, connect both side air bag module connectors. On CR-V, connect both front seat belt buckle tensioner connectors.
  3. Reconnect battery cables. Check SRS indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Reprogram radio frequencies. Perform ECM/PCM adaptive idle speed system relearn procedure to learn and adjust engine idle speed. For CR-V and Odyssey, go to next step. For Insight, go to step  5. On Odyssey, power window control unit must also be reset. To reset power window control unit on Odyssey, go to step  6.
  4. NOTE: If radiator cooling fan comes on, add the time the cooling fan is on to the 5 minute adaptive idle learn time.
  5. On CR-V and Odyssey, ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off. Start engine, and hold it at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, or until engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed and cooling fan not operating.
  6. NOTE: If radiator cooling fan comes on, add the time the cooling fan is on to the 5 minute adaptive idle learn time.
  7. On Insight and S2000, ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off. Start engine, and hold it at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, or engine coolant temperature reaches 176-212°F (80-100°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed and with all electrical items off.
  8. NOTE: Resetting power window control unit is required when battery is disconnected.
  9. On Odyssey, to reset power window control unit, turn ignition switch OFF position and then back to ON (II) position. Move driver's window all the way down using driver's window switch. When window reaches the bottom, hold driver's window switch in DOWN position for 2 seconds. Move driver's window all the way up without stopping using driver's window switch. When window reaches the top, hold driver's window switch in UP position for 2 seconds. If window does not work in AUTO, repeat procedure for resetting power window control unit.
