18 12 030 Replacing final muffler

Special Tools Required: 

WARNING: Scalding hazard! These tasks should only be carried out on an exhaust system that has cooled down!

Determining Cutting Point: 

Carry over length of new rear muffler to installed rear muffler.

Mark out cutting point.

Cut exhaust pipes with special tool 00 2 210 at marked points and deburr.

If fitted, detach vacuum hose (1) from vacuum unit (2).

Release nuts on rubber mount of rear muffler on left and right and remove rear muffler.

Installation: 

Install rubber mounts for suspension from body, vibration damper and both chrome exhaust pipes on new rear muffler.

Installation: 

Connect new rear muffler and center muffler by means of clamping sleeves

Cutting point is in middle of clamping sleeve.

Align exhaust system and clamping sleeves in such a way that there is sufficient spacing to adjoining components.

Installation: 

Check position of end pipes to body cutout.

Tighten down screws of clamping sleeves.
