13 54 030 Removing and installing/sealing throttle assembly (M54)
Turn off ignition.
Observe instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery, refer to 12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Disconnect battery negative lead from battery and lay to one side.
Remove intake filter housing, refer to 13 71 000 REMOVE AND INSTALLING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (M52TU, M54) .
Remove intake hose completely (between intake filter housing and throttle assembly), refer to 13 54 250 REPLACING INTAKE HOSE (BETWEEN AIR-MASS FLOW SENSOR AND CONNECTING PIECE) (M54) or 13 54 251 REPLACING INTAKE HOSE (BETWEEN CONNECTING PIECE AND THROTTLE ASSEMBLY) (M54) .
Disconnect following plug connections:
- (1) Resonance flap.
- (2) Idle-speed control valve.
Disconnect following plug connections:
- (1) Oil pressure switch.
- (2) Oil temperature switch.
Unlock plug (1) and detach from tank venting valve.
Release screws (1) on cable duct mounting.
E46 only:
Unclip fuel lines and cable of oil level sensor out of holder (1) on oil dipstick guide tube.
Detach oil return line (2) from oil dipstick guide tube.
Release screw (3) and remove oil dipstick guide tube.
Installation:
Replace sealing ring for oil dipstick guide tube.
All Cars:
Unlock plug (1) and detach from throttle assembly (3).
Release screws (2) and remove throttle assembly (3).
Installation:
Replace sealing ring (1) between throttle assembly and intake manifold.
Clearing Adaptation Values:
- Connect DIS Tester.
- Select vehicle type.
- Select "DME Motor Electronics MS43", carry out individual brief test.
- Continue with bottom right arrow.
- The "Fault pattern selection" window appears.
- Select "Function selection" (bottom left).
- The "Function and component selection" window appears:
- Select "Service functions".
- Select "Drive".
- Select "Digital Motor Electronics".
- Select "Reset adaptations".
- Select "Test schedule" (bottom left).
- The "Test schedule" window appears. Select "Reset adaptations".
- Continue with bottom right arrow.
For subsequent procedure, follow DIS instructions.
The new adaptation values are stored in the DME control unit after the engine is started for the first time.
