51 13 316 Removing And Installing/Replacing Trim Strip On Left Or Right Water Drain (Coupe)

NOTE: Two people are needed to remove and install the trim strip. Unhook connecting rod on hinged window, refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM ON REAR SEAT BACKREST SIDE SECTION (COUPE) .

NOTE: Detach mucket (1) of front door only to such an extent that cable (2) of anti-trap protection is not damaged.

NOTE: Trim strip is secured with up to 15 screws.

Partially detach muckets (1) and (2).

Release screws (4).

CAUTION: Open rear hinged window (3) by max. 193 mm, otherwise hinge will be damaged (wind noises).

Pull out trim strip (1) initially in corner (2), then rest and finally at front (3).

CAUTION:

Carry trim strip by its middle section only (risk of damage).
Installation must be carried out by two workers.
Prepositioning of trim strip.

Installation:

Trim strip (1) must be fitted over entire length to metal fold (2) at distance (A).

Handle end of special tool 00 9 319 (small striking wedge) has measurement (B). Wrap round with adhesive tape until measurement (A) is obtained.

(A) 22.5 mm.

(B) 22.2 mm.

Installation:

First position trim strip (1) in corner so that trim strip (3) can be fitted and then secure with screws (2).

Installation:

Trim strip (1) must have a distance of 22.5 mm over the entire length to metal fold.

Adjust trim strip (1) with special tool 00 9 319 and tighten down all screws.

Tightening Torque, refer to 51 13 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 3-SERIES .
