51 16 000 Removing And Installing/Replacing Mirror On Left Or Right Front Door (Coupe)

Remove front door trim panel, refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL (COUPE, CONVERTIBLE) .

Removing Trim From Triangular Mirror Section:

NOTE: Trim is clipped into place at top (1) and secured at bottom by a guide (2).

Removal of trim (1):

Unclip top clip (2) towards inside.
Slide trim (1) towards top a little.
Remove trim (1) towards inside.

Installation:

Clip (1) and guide (2) of trim (4) must not be damaged.
If necessary, fit spacer buffer (3).

Removing Mirror:

Unfasten plug connection (1).

Remove cable (2) from holder.

Press rubber grommet (3) outwards.

Release screws (4) and feed out mirror (5) with cable.

Installation:

Tightening Torque, refer to 51 16 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 3-SERIES .
Replacement only:
Because of the thread-cutting screws, the tightening torque increases by 2 N.m. when the mirror is new, refer to 51 16 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 3-SERIES .

Installation:

Fit mirror base (2) with sound insulation (1).

Check function.
