51 11 001 Replacing Front Bumper (M3)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove both fog lamp inserts (complete). Refer to 63 17 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT FOGLAMP INSERT (M/AERODYNAMICS PACKAGE) .
Remove washer reservoir for windshield washer system. Refer to 61 71 061 REPLACING FLUID RESERVOIR FOR WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM (M3, M3 CSL) .

Replacing Front Bumper Carrier:

Disconnect plug connections (1).

Release nuts (3) and remove fanfare horns (2) from carrier (4).

Lever retainers (1) with wiring harness (2) out of carrier (3).

Release plastic blind rivets (1) and expansion rivets (3).

Lever out catches (2) and detach bumper carrier (4).

Replacement Only:

Release expanding pins (1) and detach mounting aids (2) from bumper carrier (3).

Replacing Front Bumper Trim:

Remove trim grille for bumper trim. Refer to 51 11 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GRILLE FOR BUMPER TRIM (M3, M3 CSL) .

Remove holder for license plate.

Detach mucket (1).

Detach sheet metal nuts (2) on left/right.

Detach clip (3) for wiring harness.

Unlock plug connection (4) and detach from holder (5).

Unlock holder (5) and remove.

Lever out cover for towing eye and detach retaining strap from bumper.
