Stripping Operations - Replacing Rear Side Panel, Right (M4 Coupe)
The following list basically represents the removal sequence.
- Remove battery (FR number: 61 21 010)
- Remove bumper trim panel (job number: 51 12 156)
- Remove bumper support (job number: 51 12 050)
- Remove center bumper guide (job number: 51 12 825)
- Remove right bumper guide (job number: 51 12 828)
- Remove tail panel cover (job number: 51 46 050)
- Remove tailgate (FR number: 41 62 000)
- Partially detach tailgate seal
- Remove right rear light (job number: 63 21 265)
- Remove cover housing (job number: 41 63 003)
- Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (FR number: 51 47 101)
- Remove right luggage compartment wheel arch panel (FR number: 51 47 162)
- Remove rear right wheel arch cover (FRU number: 51 71 041)
- Remove rear window (FR number: 51 31 200)
- Remove backrest (job number: 52 24 010)
- Remove rear left side trim panel (job number: 52 43 000)
- Remove rear side window, right (FR number: 51 36 070)
- Remove front right lock striker (FRU number: 51 21 003)
- Remove right door edge protection (FRU number: 51 72 000)
- Remove right door sill cover strip (FRU number: 51 47 030)
- Remove trim panel for cover on right side member (job number: 51 71 447)
Release wiring harness at attachment points (1) and lay to one side.
Press grommet (2) with wiring harness inwards.
Unlock plug connector (3) and pull off.
Release screw (4) and remove Module; See REMOVE AND INSTALL (REPLACE) CONTROL UNIT REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE (REM) (M4 COUPE) .
Release latch mechanisms and remove rear ventilation (5).
Partially release the insulating mat (6) and tie to one side.
Installation note:
The rear ventilation must not be damaged! (watertightness).
All latch mechanisms must engage audibly.
Ensure correct installation of the grommet (2)! (watertightness).
Pull out wiring harness (1) and cable (2) for emergency release of the fuel filler flap.
Release grommet (3) for water drain hose of the slide/tilt sunroof and lay to one side.
Remove foam insert (4).
Installation note:
Make sure water drain hose is installed correctly! (watertightness).
