Arrangement Of Shaped Parts For Cavity Bulkhead
To reduce interior noise and to seal the interior from humidity, cavities in certain sections of the body are sealed off. To do this, shaped parts are inserted in the cavities. The shaped parts expand to fit the contact faces perfectly by heating the body to approx. 180° C and holding the temperature for approx. 20 minutes.
Since it is not possible during body repairs to heat the body up and maintain it at this temperature long enough, the following procedure has been defined for this eventuality.

- (1) Carrier support in front wheel arch after the spring strut shock absorber dome, already contained in expanded form in spare part
- (2) B-pillar under lower mounting point for seatbelt height adjustment, refer to Installation of shaped parts for cavity bulkhead, except cover for side member
