Removing and installing/replacing gas pressure spring on left or right main bearing (M4 Convertible)
Special tools required:
- 54 0 210
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove PANEL FOR MAIN BEARING .
Slide retaining springs (2) to end of gas pressure spring (1) and lever gas pressure spring (1).
Repeat procedure at other end of gas pressure spring (1).
Installation note:
Check that retaining spring is fitted correctly and replace if necessary.
Installation note:
Place special tool 54 0 210 on both ends of gas pressure spring (1) and lightly tighten screw (2).
Pretension gas pressure spring (1) until it can be mounted on main bearing.
Insert gas pressure spring (1) and remove special tool 54 0 210.
Always replace gas pressure springs in pairs.
Repeat procedure on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.
