Gauge consoles for roof module (M4 Convertible)

Special tools required: 

• 2 365 718
• 00 9 461
• 54 0 180
• 00 9 450

The consoles are to be gauged only after body repair.

In the warranty period the country-specific Hotline must be consulted before opening the sealing of the screw connection.

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Align BASIC GAUGE .

To prevent damage to the roof module gauge, set the roof module gauge only in the transportation crate or on consoles.

The roof module gauge is a highly sensitive measuring instrument, which reacts with distortion even to light impacts.

The roof module gauge must  be checked for dimensional accuracy on a master gauge after being subjected to impact or camber.

Connect consoles (1) for roof module to special tool 2 365 718 A.

Tighten screws (2) to 2 Nm.

Turn back barrel screws (3) and check for ease of movement at the same time.

Only use special tool 00 9 461 to screw in the gauge.

Place special tool 2 365 718 carefully on the basic gauge and screw using special tool 00 9 461.

Observe tightening sequence:

• Fix front screws (1 and 3) on the basic gauge with 2 Nm
• Fix rear screws (2 and 4) on the basic gauge with 2 Nm
• Screw in screws crosswise in the order (1 to 4) with torque wrench.

  Tightening torque 6 Nm

Insert special tool 2 365 718 B and tighten down.

Insert special tool 2 365 718 C.

Tighten screw (1) and undo 1/4 rotation.

Tighten screw (2).

Perform following procedures only with special tool 54 0 180 combined with 00 9 450.

Tighten barrel screws with 0.05 Nm (= 5 cNm).

Observe tightening sequence:

1. Barrel screw, front left
2. Barrel screw, front right
3. Barrel screw, rear left
4. Barrel screw, rear right

Insert and threads screws with washers.

Make sure the washers are positioned correctly.

Tighten screws according to the tightening sequence (1 to 4) in three steps.

1. Hand-tight
2. Jointing torque 10 Nm
3. Tightening torque 19 Nm

Tightening torque 54 37 03AZ .

Observe tightening sequence: 

1. Barrel screw, front left
2. Barrel screw, front right
3. Barrel screw, rear left
4. Barrel screw, rear right

Remove special tool 2 365 718 according to the following order.

1. Release nuts (1 to 4) and release special tool 2 365 718 A left and right from the consoles.
2. Remove special tool 2 365 718 C.
3. Remove special tool 2 365 718 B.
4. Remove special tool 2 365 718 A left and right.
