Removing and installing or replacing left or right gas pressure spring for tailgate (M4 Convertible)

Support tailgate in fully opened position with suitable device.

Make a written record of the alignment of gas strut (2) before removing.

Slide retaining spring (1) to end of gas pressure spring (2) and lever out gas pressure spring (2).

Repeat the procedure at the other end of the gas pressure spring (2) and remove.

Right side only: 

Feed out gas pressure spring (2) from cable routing (3).

Installation note: 

Make sure cable routing (3) is correctly fitted to gas pressure spring (2).
