Removing and installing/replacing trim strip on roof frame at left or right (M4 Coupe, M4 Convertible)
Special tools required:
- 00 9 321
Lift out trim strip (1) with special tool 00 9 321 in direction of arrow starting at the front.
Installation note:
Clips (1), gaskets (2) and end caps (3) must not be damaged or missing.
The positions of the clips (1) are determined with the tabs on the body.
Place the trim strip onto the roof loosely and check if clips (1) are correctly positioned with the tabs on the roof.
Replacement:
Do not attach clips (1) until the trim strip has been painted.
Installation note:
Trim strip (1) must be flush with roof outer skin (1 ± 1 mm) at front and rear.
Gasket (2) must be correctly positioned against trim strip (1).
For equipment specification with CFRP roof:
If necessary, replace damaged clips (1).
Adhere to a minimum temperature of 18°C for the roof outer skin and clips.
Clean bonding surfaces using solvent cleaner R1 or R2.
Apply a thin layer of Sika Activator 205 on the bonding surfaces.
Air drying time: ≥2 minutes.
Observe NOTES for securing components with adhesive tape.
Label the clips (1) to the roof within the embossings.
Minimum contact pressure can be achieved by pressing firmly with thumb or ball of hand (pressing for at least 2 seconds).
Installation note:
Firmer pressure and longer time increase strength.
Trim strip must be attached only after 4 hours of hardening time.
