Removing and installing (replacing) rear bumper panel (M4 Convertible)
No labels may be attached in the radiation areas of the radar sensors.
The component may be painted if no radar sensors have been installed.
The following features can be used to identify whether radar sensors are installed on the vehicle:
Radar sensors are installed at the rear if the triangular warning light is located on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame).
Radar sensors are installed at the front and rear if the triangular warning light is located on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame) in conjunction with the optional equipment S5ATA or S5AUA.
Release screws (1) on wheel arch cover (2) on left/right.
Fold back wheel arch cover (1).
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque 51 12 4AZ .
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 51 12 6AZ .
Loosen trim (1) on latch mechanisms and remove.
Installation note:
Make sure cover (1) is correctly seated.
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 51 12 5AZ .
Unclip the bumper panel (1) in area (2) outwards on the left/right.
Unclip the bumper panel (1) in area (3) towards the rear.
If necessary, disconnect plug connections of ultrasonic sensor and remove bumper panel (1).
Installation note:
Clean plug connection on wiring harness and ultrasonic sensor!
Latch mechanisms in this area (2 and 3) must be routed correctly into the corresponding holders.

Installation note:
Latch mechanisms and guides (1) must not be damaged or missing.
If necessary, replace faulty sheet metal nuts left/right.
Replacement:
- Remount the cover for the towing eye
- Remount the number plate
- Remount REAR REFLECTORS .
Unlock retaining tabs (1) in the direction of the arrow and pull out ultrasonic sensor (2) upwards from bracket (3).
Installation note:
Retaining hooks of ultrasonic sensor (2) must engage exactly in retaining tabs (1).
Installation note:
Make sure rubber ring (1) is correctly fitted on ultrasonic sensor (2).
