Removing and installing complete front axle (X2 2018-2023)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Refer to REMOVING THE WHEELS .
• Refer to LOWERING FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .

Removal: 

Only F45/F49 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle: 

Loosen the screw (1) and unclip the connector housing (2) from the front axle support.

Only F45/F49 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle: 

Unlock the connector (1) and (2) and pull it off the steering gear.

Release nut (1) of wishbone on left and right.

Pull out screw (2).

Release wishbone (3) from swivel bearing.

Slacken nut (1).

Release track rod (2) on left and right from swivel bearing.

Remove front axle complete.

Installation: 

Position front axle completely.

Position track rod (2) on the swivel bearing, left and right.

Replace nut (1).

Parts:  Nut

Tighten nut (1), left and right.

Tightening torque 32 21 1AZ .

Position wishbone (3) on the swivel bearing, left and right.

Replace nut (2) and bolt (1).

Parts:  Bolt and nut

Insert screw (2), left and right.

Tighten nut (1), left and right.

Tightening torque 31 12 1AZ .

Only F45/F49 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle: 

Tighten the screw (1) and clip in the connector housing (2) at the front axle support.

Connect the connectors (1) and (2) on the steering gear.
