Removing The Outer A-Pillar In Area Of Windscreen

- Unscrew screws (1)
and remove deformation element (2).
- Release wiring harness (1)
at attachment points.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damaging the airbag
Kinking or bending the airbag may damage the airbag and result in a malfunction of the airbag .- Handle airbag carefully and move it minimally by hand.
- Do not kink or bend the airbag.
- Loosen the screw (2) and clamp (3) for the airbag (4).
- Use a protective sleeve (1) to protect the airbag.
- Check the protective sleeve for damage before use.
- Do not use protective sleeves which are damaged.
- Use a hook and loop fastener (2)
and a loop (3) to fasten the airbag and protective sleeve.
- Slide protective sleeve (1) onto airbag under headliner so that the airbag is covered.
- Secure the protective sleeve to the hook and loop fastener (2).
- Secure protective sleeve and airbag against kinking.
- Cover opening (1)
between body and headliner to protect against welding beads and flying sparks.
- Mark and perform the separating cuts to match the specified dimensions. Thereby disconnect only the outer panel.
Dimension (a) = 150 mm from the corner of the roof frame.
Dimension (b) = 380 mm below separating cut a.
- Release welded connections in areas (1).
- Release and remove the section of the A-pillar from the cavity sealing (2).
