Installing The Roof Outer Skin

- Pre-clean bonding surfaces (1)
on the vehicle and new part with the cleaning solvent R2.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION
Cleaning agent R2 500 ml 83190417324 - Clean the bonding surfaces (1)
on the vehicle and the new part with the solvent cleaner R1.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION
Cleaning agent R1 100 ml, Bottle 83192211217 - Pre-clean bonding surfaces (1) on the vehicle and new part with the cleaning solvent R2.
- Clean the bonding surfaces (1)
on the vehicle and the new part with the solvent cleaner R1.
- In areas (1), apply sealant D2 similar to the series.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION
Sealant D2 290 ml 83425A547B9 - On the left and right roof frame, top up all flange recesses (1) with adhesive K5 and smooth out. (levelling)
- Apply adhesive in such a way that all flange recesses are level to the rest of the bonding surface.ADHESIVE DESCRIPTION
Body adhesive K5 50 ml 83192158654 ADHESIVE DESCRIPTIONBody adhesive K5 195 ml 83195A59935 - Top up the increments (1) on the front left and right convertible top bow with adhesive K5 and smooth out. (levelling)
- Apply adhesive in such a way that the increments are level to the rest of the bonding surface.
- Top up the increments on the rear left and right convertible top bow (1) with adhesive K5 and smooth out. (levelling)
- Apply adhesive in such a way that all flange recesses and increments are level to the rest of the bonding surface.
- In area (2)
of the hinge mount, apply adhesive K5 on the left and right.
- In areas (1), apply adhesive K5.
- Place roof outer skin on the vehicle evenly in the centre with the help of an auxiliary person and adjust it.
- Position the screws M6, the nuts and the washers on mounting holes (1) of the roof rails. Tighten the screw connections until hand-tight.
- Make sure that no adhesive touches the screw connections.
- Remove the screw connections after the adhesive has hardened.
- In area (1), rivet the roof outer skin with 7 punch rivets N5.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION

- In areas (1), rivet the roof outer skin with two punch rivets N4.
- In area (2), rivet the roof outer skin with 8 punch rivets N4.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION

Ω 3 mm; 4 mm long83192457307 - Adhesive at the nodes of the A-pillar and D-pillar:
Align the stage (1) between the roof outer skin (2) and the A-pillar or roof outer skin (2) and D-pillar with the emerging adhesive.
Do not leave any sharp edges since this could cause leaks when subsequently bonding the windscreen and the rear window.
- Spread excess adhesive in roof trim strip channel.
While doing so, the mounting surfaces of roof trim strip mounting elements may not be coated with adhesive.
- Remove excess adhesive. Do not use any cleaning agent or solvent!
Installing the EMC screw
- Drill a hole with a diameter of 4.2 mm.
In the case of glued connections, only drill the hole after the adhesive has fully hardened.
- Screw in the EMC screw.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION

Dimension (a) = approximately 140 mm in front of the corner of the roof outer skin
