Install the front right deformation element
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2023 BMW X2, 2022 BMW X2, 2021 BMW X2, 2020 BMW X2, and 2019 BMW X2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Feed the deformation element (4) into the engine support from the front.
- Replace screws (1).
Parts: Screws
- Join the bolts (2) and screw them in a few turns.
- Join the bolts (3) and screw them in a few turns.
- Adjust the support for the cross connection (1) to the specified dimension.
Dimension (a) = approx. 4 mm
- If the support for the cross connection (1) was removed on only one side of the vehicle, the dimension (a) of the side that was not removed must be used as the setting dimension.
- Adjust the deformation element (1) so that the surfaces (3) are parallel to each other.
The height of the deformation element (1) cannot be adjusted due to the stop (2).
- Hold the deformation element at the front right (4) in position.
- Tighten the screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Deformation element to engine mount Hexagon screw Replace screws.
Tightening torque 100 Nm Angle of rotation 180° - Tighten the screws (2).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front vertical connection to deformation element M6x30 screw Tightening torque 8 Nm - Tighten the screws (3).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Support for cross connection support to deformation element M6x20 screw Tightening torque 11.8 Nm NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When using special tools that extend the lever arm of the torque wrench, the setpoint torque deviates from the adjustable torque.NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details. - Converting the setpoint torque into the torque to be set:
(Setpoint torque x L1): L2 = Torque to be set
L1 = Length from the center of the handle to the reversible ratchet head
L2 = Length from the center of the handle to the center of the ring on the special tool
- Tighten bolts (1) with special tool 2 463 965
and tighten with the torque wrench.
While doing so, the special tool and the torque wrench must align while tightening,
- Tighten the screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Support for cross connection support to deformation element M6x20 screw Tightening torque 11.8 Nm - Fit the radiator module (1) correctly.
- Mount the locks (2) on the cross connection (3).
- Push the locking pins (1) in and lock.
