Disconnecting all battery ground leads

Precondition
Ignition is switched off.

Deactivate the 12-V electrical system

- Make sure that there is no battery charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- For vehicles with additional electrical systems (48 V electrical system, high-voltage vehicle electrical system), this absolutely must be deactivated before the vehicle battery is disconnected.

Removing rear hood seal
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Pull off the hood seal (1) towards the top and remove.
Removing front windshield panel cover
- Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
- Guide the front fairing panel cover (2) out of the rear fairing panel cover (3) and remove.
- Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
- Unfasten nut (2).NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) .
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults .- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
- Remove the battery earth lead (3) and secure to one side.
