Installing the steering column
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2023 BMW X2, 2022 BMW X2, 2021 BMW X2, 2020 BMW X2, and 2019 BMW X2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Carefully insert the steering column in the dashboard trim and position it.
- Secure the wiring harness to the steering column.
- Place nuts (1) at top of steering column.
- Place nuts (1) at bottom of steering column.
- Nuts must be tightened in the sequence (1) to (4).
TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Tightening torque | 21.4 Nm |
- Pull the spindle of steering column (1) out to the maximum length.
- Slide the universal joint (2) onto the spindle of the steering column (1).
NOTE:
Counter support the spindle (1) on the steering column when sliding the steering shaft!
- Replace the clamping bolt (3).
Parts: Clamping bolt
- Tighten the clamping bolt (3).
TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
