Install the left-hand and right-hand crash lever
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the right and left side.
- Replace clip nut (1)

Parts: Clip nut
- When positioning the crash lever (1)
watch out for the Christmas tree clip.
- Position the tension strut (4) on the front subframe.
- Position the crash lever (3) on the front axle support.
- Replace the screw (1)
.
Parts: Screw
- Feed the screw (1)
into the spring Circlip (2)
.NOTE: Do not yet tighten the screw (1).
Adjusting the normal position
- Position special tool 2 358 630 .
- Hand-tighten the wheel bolts (1) .
- Insert the universal jack into the special tool 2 358 630
.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Failure to comply with the specification.
Component damage.- All specifications must be observed and complied with.
- For installed output shaft:
It is imperative to protect the output shaft (1) from damage with a cloth (2) .
The spring strut (3) must be pressed in arrow direction slightly to the side before lifting the swivel bearing (A).
- Use the universal jack and the special tool 2 358 630 to lift the swivel bearing until it reaches the
dimension (A)
.
Dimension (A) = 402 mm
Ensure a sufficient distance between the output shaft and the spring strut.
NOTE: Dimension (A) must not be undershot.
- Tighten the screw (1)
in NORMAL POSITION
.NOTE: Drive the steering (swivel bearing) a little inwards.
TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Remove the special tool
- Lower the workshop jack and set it aside.
- Loosen lug bolts (1) .
- Remove the special tool 2 358 630 .
