Removing the radial shaft seal for the output to the front axle (ATC 13-1) (up to 11/2016)

Preliminary work
- Deactivate the 48 v ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
- Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
- Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove the transmission side UNDERBODY PLANKING
- Remove the tunnel connecting SUPPORT .
- If installed: remove the right and left TORSION STRUT where required.
- Remove transmission CROSS-MEMBER .
- Remove the HEAT SHIELDS .
- Remove the RETAINING PLATES
- Partially loosen the PROP SHAFT
- Remove the TRANSFER BOX (ATC 13-1).
- Loosen band clamps (1).
- Remove bellows (2) from the protective cap (3).
- Remove protective cap (1) using a screwdriver.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Do not use a drill.
Shavings can damage the transmission and result in failure of the transmission. - Drive a hole into the radial shaft sealing ring (1) using a center punch.
- Screw in special tool 0 491 454 (23 0 490) .
- Drive out the radial shaft seal (1) with the impact weight (2).
