Adjusting rear left or right front window (4' Series Gran Coupe Sedan)
Special tools required:
- 51 0 370
- 51 0 342
- 2 351 398
- 2 304 553
- 51 3 240
- 51 3 220
Configuring the correct setting will fulfil the following properties:
- Seal against water ingress
- No wind noise
- No rattling
- No unintentional reversing of side windows during closing (anti-trap safety function)
Prerequisites for correct adjustment:
(Full operability of the power windows during the adjustment procedure is only assured with an external power supply)
Attention!
When closing, the door window glass must not jam on the trim strip in any area of the window (window glass breakage).
When performing measurement and adjustment work, do not slam the door (window pane may shatter).
Observe the checking and adjustment sequence!
- Door window glass preload
- Door window glass retraction depth/longitudinal direction
- Door window glass preload
- 1.1 Preparation NOTE: Check preload with fitted weather strip.
Open door; move door window pane into uppermost position, if necessary.
Insert special tool 51 0 370 in rotary striker of door lock and manually lock rotary striker (short lift activation).
Close door carefully up to the point where special tool 51 0 370 magnetically adheres to striker (= defined door opening angle for measurement).
No force must be exerted on the door or door window pane during measurement.
- 1.2 Preload ideal setting NOTE: No force must be exerted on the door or door window pane during measurement.
Bring special tool 51 0 342 into contact with door window glass (1) and window guide gasket (2).
Determine the dimension for the preload between the outer edge of the door window glass (1) and the gasket of the window guide (2).
Dimension = 46 ±1 mm
- 1.3 Adjust preload
Open door and remove sealing cap on door window frame.
Feed special tool 2 351 398 into the door and apply to nut (1) and guide (2).
Slacken nut (1) with knob (3).
Turn lever (4) to adjust preload and tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 51 35 2AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
Remove special tool 51 0 370 from rotary striker of door lock.
Close door, completely open door window glass and remove sealing cap on door window frame.
Feed special tool 2 351 398 into the door and apply to nut (1) and guide (2).
Slacken nut (1) with knob (3).
Turn lever (4) to completely move the front window lift rail outwards and tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 51 35 2AZ .
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
- 1.1 Preparation
- Door window glass retraction depth/longitudinal direction
- 2.1 Longitudinal direction ideal setting
Close door and door window glass.
Measure distance (x) in area (A and B) from cover B-pillar (1) to rear door window glass (2) with special tool 51 0 342.
Area Dimension (x) Position of special tool 51 0 342 A 10 ±1 mm Approx. 30 mm from trim strip at top B 10 ±1 mm Approx. 30 mm from trim strip at bottom Parallelism deviation maximum 1.5 mm - 2.2. Retraction depth ideal setting
Rear door open.
Attach special tool 2 304 553 to center of door window glass.
Close rear door.
Measure retraction depth
Retraction depth = 5 ±1 mm
IMPORTANT: Rear door must open and close without the door window glass touching the roof trim strip (risk of damage)NOTE: Check play of special tool 2 304 553 to edge of door window pane before each measurement. To correctly determine the dimension, transfer edge of profile seal (1) with special tool 51 0 342 to scale perpendicular to special tool 2 304 553.
- 2.3. Adjust retraction depth/longitudinal direction
Remove OUTER WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP
NOTE: Avoid damaging door window pane (1) and window cavity through tool use. When configuring setting, ensure that all special tools 2 304 553 continue to touch edge of door window pane without any gaps.
Slacken multipoint head cap screw (1) using special tool 51 3 240 until door window glass can be moved with little effort.
NOTE: Always slacken both multipoint head cap screws to avoid tension in the power window system.Attach special tool 51 3 220 to door window glass.
Adjust longitudinal direction (X) and retraction depth (Z) to door window.
NOTE: When adjusting retraction depth, ensure special tool 2 304 553 lays on door window glass free of play.Tighten multipoint head cap screw (1) using special tool 51 3 240 and torque wrench (1).
Tightening torque 51 35 3AZ .
IMPORTANT: Do not release or tighten multipoint head cap screw over inside of door (removed door trim panel; threaded bolt may snap).Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
NOTE: Checking run-in of door window glass:
- 2.1 Longitudinal direction ideal setting
