Prerequisite
- The following preliminary work has been carried out:
- Front axle support is lowered.
- If necessary: Front axle differential is removed.

The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g. emery cloth) to clean the surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks or engine damage.

- Do not use any metal-cutting tools.

Collect and dispose of emerging fluids. Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Preliminary work
- Release the oil drain plug
- Refer to REMOVING OIL SUMP
- Refer to REMOVING THE OIL VACUUM PUMP
- Loosen all highlighted screws and remove the oil deflector (1). When re-installing:
- Replace screws
- Joining torque: 12 Nm
- Angle of rotation: 45°
Follow-up work
- Install the oil deflector
- Replace screws
- Joining torque: 12 Nm
- Angle of rotation: 45°
- Refer to INSTALLING THE OIL VACUUM PUMP
- Refer to REFITTING ENGINE OIL PAN
- Tighten the oil drain plug to 25 Nm. NOTE: Replace the sealing ring.
- Check engine oil level
- Top up the engine oil, as necessary
