11 65 300 Remove and install or replace the electrical controller drive for wastegate valve
Special tools required:
- 2 469 240
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove CLEAN AIR PIPE
Removal:
Have special tool 2 469 240 ready.
Unlock connector (1) and remove.
Remove color coding (1) with commercially available tool.
Sand commercially available open-end spanner (1) with the dimension (A) indicated on the caliper gauge (2).
Counter-hold adjusting nut (3) with the sanded commercially available open-ended spanner (2).
Release lock nut (4) with a standard open-end spanner (1).
Guide out lock nut (1) and remove.
Carefully guide out lever (1) of the wastegate valve in direction of arrow from the control rod of the electrical wastegate valve controller and set aside.
Avoid any lateral force on the control rod of the electrical wastegate valve controller.
Loosen screws (1) with the special tool 2 469 240.
Guide out electrical wastegate valve controller (2) and remove.
Use a commercially available caliper gauge (1) to determine dimension (A) on the adjusting nut (2).
Installation:
Check contact surface (1) on the exhaust turbocharger for contamination and clean it if necessary.
Replace adjusting nut (2).
Parts: Adjusting nut
Send dimension (A) to the new adjusting nut (2) using a commercially available caliper gauge (1).
Install electrical controller drive (2) and position it correctly.
Tighten screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 65 3AZ .
Carefully push the lever (1) of the wastegate valve in direction of arrow onto the control rod as far as it will go.
Replace lock nut (1).
Parts: Attachment nut
Fit new lock nuts (1) on the lever of the wastegate valve.
Hand tighten new lock nut (1).
Attach and lock connector (1).
Connector (1) must audibly engage.
Basic setting of the wastegate linkage can only be checked or adjusted through diagnosis.
Diagnosis path: Service functions -> Drive -> DME - > Adjustment functions -> Wastegate linkage adjustment
Using just one open-end spanner poses risk of damage to the electrical controller drive.
Increase adjustment travel (+).
To ensure a reliable setting of the adjustment travel, both adjusting nuts must be marked with a colored mark.
One full turn of the adjusting nut corresponds to an adjustment travel of 0.75 mm .
Example 1:
Actual value measured by the diagnostic function: +0.75 mm .
Required correction: +0.75 mm: 0.75 mm = +1.0 turns .
Adjust nut (1) in (+) direction by 1.0 rotation and then tighten nut (2).
Tightening torque 11 65 4AZ .
Example 2:
Actual value measured by the diagnostic function: -1.5 mm .
Required correction: -1.5 mm: 0.75 mm = -2 turns .
Adjust nut (2) in (-) direction by 2 rotations and then tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 11 65 4AZ .
Check basic setting again using diagnosis.
Required follow-up work:
- Install CLEAN AIR PIPE
