11 51 000 Removing and installing/replacing coolant pump (B48B)

Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove ACOUSTIC COVER AT FRONT
- Drain COOLANT
Removal:
Slacken screws (1)
Remove DRIVE BELT .
Pull vacuum hose (1) off of coolant pump (2).
Release screws (1).
Remove the belt pulley (2).
Release screws (1 - 4).
Remove coolant pump.
Preparation for installation:
CAUTION:
Always remove sealing ring (1).
Failure to do so may result in damage!
Failure to do so may result in damage!
Clean sealing surface (1).
NOTE:
Sealing surface (1) must be clean and free of grease.
NOTE:
Sealing bead (1) is bonded on coolant pump.
If a sealing bead (1) protrusion is present and not damaged, coolant pump can be installed again with the existing sealing bead (1).
If sealing bead (1) is damaged, it must be removed.
Apply SEALING COMPOUND 2.2 (Loctite 5970).
Sealing compound height approx. 2 mm - 2.5 mm.
Guide sleeve (2) must not be damaged.
Moisten sealing ring (3) with coolant.
If a sealing bead (1) protrusion is present and not damaged, coolant pump can be installed again with the existing sealing bead (1).
If sealing bead (1) is damaged, it must be removed.
Apply SEALING COMPOUND 2.2 (Loctite 5970).
Sealing compound height approx. 2 mm - 2.5 mm.
Guide sleeve (2) must not be damaged.
Moisten sealing ring (3) with coolant.
Installation:
Position coolant pump.
Tighten screws in the sequence (1 - 4).
Tightening torque 11 51 1AZ .
Attach vacuum hose (1) to coolant pump (2).
Attach belt pulley (2).
Abut screws (1).
Install DRIVE BELT .
Tighten screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 51 7AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install ACOUSTIC COVER AT FRONT
- Add COOLANT
- Check engine for leak tightness
