13 53 596 Replacing high pressure fuel sensor (B48)

WARNING: Observe warning on cylinder head cover.
Disconnect the NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (risk of fire due to short circuit on dismantling).
Electric fuel pump starts up automatically when door is opened!
Carry out installation work on fuel system only with coolant temperature below 40°C.
IMPORTANT: Wear full face guard and protective gloves.
Fuel can emerge spontaneously at high speed when the fuel pressure sensor is released!
IMPORTANT: Adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when carrying out repair work on the high-pressure fuel system!
Introduced contaminants can cause malfunctions in the system!

Recycling: 

Fuel escapes when fuel pressure sensor is detached.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel in a suitable container.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Unlock and disconnect plugs (1).

Release fuel high-pressure sensor (2) and remove.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.

Installation note: 

Oil the thread and cone on the fuel high-pressure sensor.

Installation: 

Install fuel high-pressure sensor (2) and tighten.

Tightening torque, refer to: 13 53 1AZ .

Attach and lock connector (1).

Connector (1) must engage audibly.
