17 22 010 Removing and installing/replacing transmission oil cooler for automatic transmission (B48)
Attention!
Risk of scalding!
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain the HIGH-TEMPERATURE COOLANT .
- Remove the INTAKE PLENUM .
- Remove reinforcement plate. (all-wheel drive vehicle)
- Remove the REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.
Transmission oil emerges when fluid lines are detached from transmission oil cooler.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Removal:
Loosen the screws along the arrows.
Remove connecting rod (1).
Unlock and release fuel line (1).
Unlock and release clamp (2).
Unscrew nut (3).
Remove guard plate (4).
Unlock coolant line (1) and release.
Collect and dispose of escaping coolant.
Unlock transmission oil lines (1) and release.
Unlock coolant line (2) and release.
Loosen screws (3).
Release screw (4).
Remove heat exchanger (5).
Installation:
Install heat exchanger (5).
Tighten screw (3).
Tightening torque, refer to: 17 22 2AZ .
Tighten down screws (4).
Tightening torque, refer to: 17 22 2AZ .
Connect and lock transmission oil lines (1).
Transmission oil lines (1) must audibly engage.
Connect coolant line (2) and lock.
Coolant line (2) must audibly engage.
Connect coolant line (1) and lock.
Coolant line (1) must audibly engage.
Install protective plate (4).
Tighten nut (4).
Connect and lock fuel line (1).
Connect clamp (2) and lock.
Clamp (2) must audibly snap into place.
Install connecting rod (1).
Tighten screws along arrows.
Tightening torque, refer to: 12 41 2AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install the INTAKE PLENUM .
- Top up the HIGH-TEMPERATURE COOLANT .
- Check OIL LEVEL in automatic transmission. If necessary, top up automatic transmission fluid.
- Install reinforcement plate. (all-wheel drive vehicle)
- Install the REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
