12 61 285 Removing and installing/replacing oil level sensor for engine oil

Attention!
Read and comply with NOTES ON PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION)!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove reinforcement plate. (all-wheel drive vehicle)
- Drain the ENGINE OIL . (Don not remove oil filter cover)
Removal:
Loosen cover (1).
Unlock and disconnect plugs (1).
Slacken nut (2).
Remove oil level sensor (3).
Preparation for installation:
Clean sealing surface on oil sump.
Installation:
Replace seal on oil level sensor.
Parts: Gasket
Install oil-level sensor (3).
Tighten down nuts (2).
An excessively low torque value will result in oil leaks.
An excessively high torque value will result in damage to the oil level sensor.
Tightening torque, refer to: 12 61 2AZ.
Connect connector (1) to oil-level sensor and lock.
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Required follow-up work:
- Install the UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Install reinforcement plate. (all-wheel drive vehicle)
- Top up ENGINE OIL .
