11 13 000 Removing and fitting, sealing or replacing the oil sump (B48B all-wheel drive vehicle)
Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect battery negative cable
- Remove front axle differential
- Remove bearing support
- Remove bottom acoustic cover
- Remove starter motor
- Drain off engine oil
Application time of sealing bead max . 12 minutes.
Removal:
Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
Release cable from oil sump at clips (2).
Release screws (1) from transmission.
Release screws (1 - 7) from oil sump.
Release screws (1 - 7) from oil sump.
Release screws (1 - 3) from oil sump.
Release screws (1 and 2) from oil sump.
Engine with liquid sealing compound:
Release oil sump using screwdriver (1).
Remove oil sump (1) downwards to the rear.
Preparation for installation:
Clean sealing residues from oil sump and crankcase.
Clean sealing surface (1) with special tool 11 4 472 and 11 4 472 of sealing residue.
Installation note:
Clean sealing surface (1) with brake cleaner 3.3.
Sealing surface (1) must be free of oil, grease and cleaning agents.
Clean sealing surface (1) with special tool 11 4 471 and 11 4 472 of sealing residue.
Installation note:
Clean sealing surface (1) with brake cleaner 3.3.
Sealing surface (1) must be free of oil, grease and cleaning agents.
Keep special tool 2 469 803 ready.
Position sealing compound (1) on special tool 2 469 803 as shown.
Parts: Sealing compound 2.2
Apply sealing compound 2.2 in this area (1).
Make sure that the sealing bead runs along the inner edge.
The complete circumference of the oil return orifice (arrow) must be covered.
Sealant height approximately 2 to 2.5 mm.
Installation:
Position special tool 11 8 780 with screws (1) of transmission so that oil sump aligns exactly with engine block.
If necessary, replace fitting sleeves.
Attaching the oil sump.
Observe exact screw lengths.
Reinstall screws corresponding to the original screw length.
The oil sump may be damaged when using the incorrect screw length!
Ensure that the correct screw (2) (M8x40) is used for mounting the oil sump on the transmission.
The screw (1) (mounting bolt of the starter motor) may never be used for mounting the oil sump.
Install oil sump (1) to front and upwards.
Insert screws (1 and 2).
Insert screws (1 - 7).
Insert screws (1 - 7).
Insert screws (1 - 3).
Tighten down all screws on oil sump.
Tightening torque 11 13 2AZ .
Vehicles with automatic transmission:
Tighten screws (1) on transmission.
Tightening torque 24 00 1AZ .
Fasten cable to oil sump with clips (2).
Connect the connector (1).
Required follow-up work:
- Install front axle differential
- Install bearing support
- Install starter motor
- Install lower acoustic cover
- Connect battery earth lead
- Top up engine oil
- Check engine for leak tightness
