11 37 020 Removing and installing/replacing servomotor for eccentric shaft (230i and 230i xDrive coupe/convertible)

CAUTION: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary work:

Refer to REMOVING AIR INTAKE PLENUM .

Removal:

Unlock and disconnect connector (1).

Release screws (1).

CAUTION: Risk of damage to intermediate shaft.

Slacken of intermediate shafts:

Turn servomotor (1) using reversible ratchet (2) and 4 mm hexagon socket wrench in direction of arrow to left.

NOTE: Do not excessively rotate the shaft, at maximum to the end stop.

Remove actuator drive.

Installation:

Installation note:

When installing the servomotor for the eccentric shaft, it is essential to apply a thin and even coat of Longtime PD-1 lubricating grease OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES 4.1 to the gearing.

Detach and replace gasket (1) in direction of arrow.

NOTE: Press-in gasket (1) up to limit position on housing.

Grease gearing (1) of the servomotor for eccentric shaft (2) in the marked area .

Parts: Lubricating grease

Insert controller drive (1) as far as the gearing.

Screw in controller drive (1) using reversible ratchet (2) and 4 mm hexagon socket wrench in direction of arrow up to limit position.

Tighten screws (1).

Tightening torque: 11 37 2AZ .

Connect the connector (1).

NOTE: Teach-in of the servomotor limit positions for the eccentric shaft possible only with diagnosis .
Diagnosis path : Service functions -> Drivetrain -> Engine electronics -> Adjustment functions -> Teach in Valvetronic limit positions.
