13 53 332 Remove and install/replace the feed line (N63) (X6 xDrive 50i)

Special tools required:

13 5 160

WARNING: Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (risk of fire due to short circuit on dismantling).
Electric fuel pump starts up automatically when door is opened!
Carry out installation work on fuel system only with coolant temperature below 40°C.

Wear safety goggles.

Wear protective gloves!

IMPORTANT: Adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when carrying out repair work on the high-pressure fuel system!
Introduced contaminants can cause malfunctions in the system!

Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system.
Remove all traces of contamination before removing lines or separate components.
Use only lint-free cloths.
Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps or plugs.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release DRIVE BELT for alternator from alternator.
REMOVE LEFT AND RIGHT CHARGE AIR HOSE .
Remove left and right clean air pipes. Refer to 13 71 174 Removing both charge air hoses (N63) REP-REP-RAF1513N63O1-1371174 - V.4 (X6 xDrive 50i) .

Recycling:

Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel in a suitable container.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Unlock and pull off connector (1) from alternator.

Release nut at bottom of cover (2).

Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ .

Remove positive battery cable from alternator and place to one side.

Installation note:

Reinstall cover (2) without fail risk of short circuiting !

Release the screws (1) from the coolant pump for the exhaust turbocharger (2).

Place the turbocharger coolant pump to the side. Do not remove the turbocharger coolant pump!

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 12 31 1AZ .

Feed out and remove holder for turbocharger coolant pump (2) in the direction of travel.

Pull off connector (2) with holder (1) in an upwards direction.

Release connector holder (1) from bracket and place to one side.

Unlock and disconnect the fuel delivery line.

Seal fuel lines with special tools (1) and (2) 13 5 160 .

Release the fuel feed line (1) on the high-pressure pumps.

Unfasten screws (2).

Release nuts (3) on retaining clips.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.

Feed out and remove fuel feed line (2).

Installation note:

Observe tightening sequence.

Fit fuel feed line.
In so doing, apply only hand-tight force to tighten screw connections!
Apply tightening force to fuel delivery line at high pressure pumps.
Tightening torque 13 53 4AZ .
Apply tightening force to the fuel delivery line at cylinder head cover and engine block.
Tightening torque 13 53 6AZ .
Tighten down retaining clips.
Tightening torque 13 53 7AZ .

Assemble engine.

Check fuel system for leak tightness.

Check function of DME.
