51 22 090 Removing and installing/replacing the door lock in the left or right rear door (X6 2015-2019)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove SOUND INSULATION .
• Remove OUTER HANDLE .

Version with Soft Close Automatic: 

Feed out cover (1) in direction of arrow.

Version with Soft Close Automatic: 

Disconnect Bowden cable at bottom (1) and top (3) from door lock (2).

Installation note: 

Use one hand to pull hook for Bowden cable at top (3) downwards slightly while hooking the Bowden cable into place with the other hand.

Bowden cable must be correctly engaged in locators in door lock (2).

Cable must be routed without kinking.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Unfasten cable strap (2).

Slacken bolt (1).

Carefully remove support (2) from door.

Installation note: 

Make sure the support (2) in area (A) is fitted correctly.

Unclip locking rod (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove door lock (3) from inside with outer door handle support.

Installation note: 

Observe tightening sequence: bottom - top - inner.

Tightening torque 51 22 1AZ .

Carry out function check of child safety catch (4) and door lock (3) with door opened.

Replacement: 

Disconnect Bowden cable (1).

Installation note: 

Check function of child safety catch, as problems may arise:

• Lock does not center in body aperture
• Lock scrapes on inner door panel
• Lock snags on inner door panel
