Removing and installing/replacing outer door handle on left or right rear door (X6 M)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove COVER ON OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE .

Pull out outer door handle (1) and feed out in direction of arrow.

Version with Comfort Access/light package: 

Carefully maneuver out outer door handle (1) and unplug associated electrical connector.

Installation note: 

Locator (1) must not be damaged.

Gaskets (2) must not be damaged.

Installation note: 

When outer handle is removed the lock actuator (1) is held in fitting position by retaining springs (2).

If the lock actuator is not  in fitting position:

• Use string (3) to pull lock actuator (1) outwards and hold in position.
• Fit outer handle and insert into lock actuator correctly (1).
• Remove string (3)

Carry out function check only with door open.

Replacement 

Version with Comfort Access: 

Check outer door handle for proper function before painting.

Connect all connectors to outer door handle and wait approx. 10 seconds.

Perform convenient closing/opening.

Paint outer door handle before installation.

Do not paint the marked area of the outer door handle.

Do not exceed drying temperature of 60°C.

Version with light package: 

Clip lighting unit (1) into outer door handle (2) in direction of arrow.

Attach gasket (1) to outer door handle (2).

Ensure gasket (1) is seated correctly.
