51 47 128 Removing and installing/replacing trim panel for luggage compartment floor

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Remove the gas pressure spring (1) from the BALL SOCKETS .

Open covers (1) remove concealed screws.

Remove trim panel for luggage compartment floor (2).

Release screw (1).

Lever out the covers (2) upwards.

Lift the rear trim panel for luggage compartment floor (3), unclip from the front clips and remove upwards.

Installation: 

Replacement: 

Remount HANDLE ONTO TRIM PANEL FOR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR .

Release screws (1).

Remove mounting plate (2).

Release screws (1).

Remount both hinges (2).

Engage the trim panel for the luggage compartment floor (3) in the clips.

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 51 47 20AZ .

Install and engage covers (2).

Install trim panel for luggage compartment floor (2).

Tighten down screws.

Tightening torque 51 47 20AZ .

Close covers(1).

Install the gas pressure spring (1) at the BALL SOCKETS .

Required follow-up work: 



Push retaining spring (1) to end of gas pressure spring.

Remove gas pressure spring from ball head.

Firmly pull luggage compartment floor (2) towards the rear and thereby detach it from hinges (3).

NOTE: Removal is easier the flatter the luggage compartment floor (2) is positioned.

Replacement: 

Remove HANDLE ON TRIM PANEL FOR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR .

Release screws (1).

Remove mounting plate (2).

Release screws (1).

Remove cover (2) and retaining hook (3).
