NOTE:

Sequence of the diagnosis instructions in the ISID:

Connect Integrated Measurement Interface Box (IMIB) to the ISID.

Depending on the fault pattern, the order of operations in the repair instructions may be different from the order of operations in the ISID.

Carry out procedure to check the vacuum system.

Pressure converter (1), cylinders 1 to 4 (color black).

Pressure converter (2), cylinders 5 to 8 (color black).

Panel vacuum reservoir (3).

Vacuum line junction (4) to the exhaust flaps.

Use standard disconnection tools to disconnect the coolant hoses or vacuum lines.

Check suction effect of vacuum pump.

Pull vacuum line (1) off vacuum pump (2).

Attach special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924) and connect to the Integrated Measurement Interface Box (IMIB).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Check vacuum system for leaks.

Disconnect vacuum line (2) and (3) to exhaust flap.

Connect special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924) to a T-connecting piece and a vacuum hose (1).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Connect Integrated Measurement Interface Box (IMIB 2) to the ISID.

Select low pressure sensor.

IMIB 2: Order number 81 38 2 295 937 Follow diagnosis instruction.

Disconnect junction (1) to vacuum reservoir with suitable clamping pliers (2).

Functional check of exhaust flaps.

Check function of exhaust flap (1) on both rear silencers.

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Disconnect vacuum line (1) on spring strut dome.

Connect special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924) to vacuum line (2) without T-connecting piece.

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Disconnect vacuum hose (1) to electric changeover valve (2) on connecting element (see arrow).

Connect vacuum line (1) with special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Disconnect vacuum hose (1) of exhaust flap from electric changeover valve (2).

Connect vacuum hose (3) on electric changeover valve (2).

Connect vacuum hose (1) and (3) with special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924) using a T-connecting piece

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Connect the vacuum hose (1) of the exhaust flaps to the vacuum line (red) of the diagnosis auxiliary device 0 426 464 .

Start troubleshooting with the diagnostic assistance device.

Check actuation of the wastegate valve controller.

Connect special tool 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Check function of wastegate capsule.

Disconnect the vacuum line with 81 31 2 357 800 (81 38 2 201 924) from the exhaust flaps with suitable clamping pliers (1).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Check function of wastegate capsules.

Vacuum units are activated cyclically on cylinders 1-4 and cylinders 5-8 according to diagnosis instructions.

Check movement of wastegate linkage.

Wastegate flap closes (see arrow).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Wastegate capsules

Activation of vacuum units are activated cyclically on cylinders 1-4 and cylinders 5-8.

Check movement of wastegate linkage.

Wastegate flap opens (see arrow).

Follow diagnosis instruction.

Check wastegate flap on turbocharger:

Flap (1) of vacuum unit (wastegate valve) must be open in depressurized state and closed when there is a vacuum.

Note on pressure converter connections

NOTE:

OUT vacuum connections on the pressure converter cylinders 1-4 and 5-8 can be swapped.

Vacuum hose at connection VAC (= vacuum reservoir).

Vacuum hose at connection OUT (= wastegate actuator vacuum unit).
