17 11 100 Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank (N20 PHEV)
Only carry out repair work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect coolant hoses from coolant expansion tank.
- Catch and dispose of coolant according to national regulations.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Install the LOW-TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT COOLANT EXPANSION TANK .
FOLLOW instructions for repair work on the cooling system.
Disconnect coolant hoses from coolant expansion tank.
Removal:
Release sealing cap (1).
Draw off coolant with standard pump.
Unlock coolant line (1) and release.
Unfasten screws (2).
Lift the expansion tank (3) slightly until the coolant line and connector are accessible.
Unlock and release connector on coolant level switch (1).
Unlock and detach coolant hose (2).
Collect and dispose of escaping coolant.
Thread out coolant expansion tank (3) and remove.
Installation:
Feed in expansion tank (3) and install.
Attach and lock connector (1).
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Connect and lock coolant hose (2).
The coolant hose (2) must engage audibly.
Feed the expansion tank (1) into the guide (2).
Tighten screw (3).
Tightening torque 17 10 3AZ .
Connect coolant line (4) and lock.
Coolant line (4) must audibly engage.
Top up coolant up to maximum mark.
Close sealing cap (1).
Installation note:
Close sealing cap (1) until arrows align.
Required follow-up work:
- Install LT CIRCUIT COOLANT EXPANSION TANK .
