Secure right output shaft with special tool 31 4 180 (X5 M)

Special tools required:

31 4 170
31 4 180

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove RIGHT MICROFILTER HOUSING COVER .

IMPORTANT: Use special tool to avoid preliminary damage to the ball joint in the upper wishbone!

Press plugs out of spring strut dome.

Secure swivel bearing (1) with special tool 31 4 170 in installation position.

Remove LOWER CONTROL ARM FRONT SPRING STRUT HOLDER AND FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .

Press output shaft (1) out of the front axle differential with a suitable tool and pull it out approx. 6 cm.

Insert special tool 31 4 180 between output shaft (1) and bearing support (2) from above.

Installation note:

Slide output shaft to the limit position into front axle differential. Output shaft must snap audibly into place.

IMPORTANT: High installation forces indicate that the gearing on the output shaft/rear axle final drive side gear are damaged/deformed! Check spline teeth, replaced damaged parts.
